Rope Twists - Super Defined Twist Out

At the meet up with Felicia Leatherwood, she demonstrated to the audience on my hair how to create an even more defined twist out by using the rope twist technique to create a two strand twist.  Essentially, you twist your strands separately & then twist them together (in 2 strand twist fashion) to create the twist.  Make sense?  No (LOL!), well check out Youtuber iknowlee's excellent demonstration in her video tutorial below.

Here is how my hair looked after twisting.

And after untwisting:

Aren't my earrings fierce?!   I love them!  I got them from Sarenzo Beads.  I think they are called stud earrings.

I'm not a makeup expert but I'm just showing my make up look here.  Thanks to my friend, Minerva Danzler for reintroducing me to the red lip!  I loved my golden eyes too!

Twist out on 2 strand twists with Extensions

I've had my 2 strand twist extensions in now for 8 1/2 weeks.  Right before I took them out, I did a twist out with the hair.  I wish I'd done it sooner!  I LOVED this look!!!

Overall, I loved this protected style.  I found it to be very versatile and it was great having a break from doing my own hair for 2.5 months.  I will definitely revisit this look again next year.

Protective Style - 2 strand twist style part III

You guys, I have to let you know that I am truly enjoying my hair in this protective style.  Don't get me wrong, I love, love my hair when it is loose and I do miss it, but I don't miss the 1 to 2 hour styling sessions!  This is a style that I did to my 2 strand twists a couple of weeks ago.  In the front I did pin curls and in the back I did a twisted low bun.  I thought this was a cute variation of my twists and I got a lot of compliments on it!

Maintenance:  The only thing that I'm doing to maintain my twists is spraying them 3 times weekly with my moisturizing mist.  I spray my scalp about twist a week with an oil mix and then cleanse with an astringent when my scalp is dirty, especially since I work out.  I just wear my satin bonnet at night.

Protective Style - 2 strand twist style

Over the next 8 weeks while I have my hair protected, I will be demonstrating it's versatility by featuring a variety of styles that I'm able to create.  One of my fears is that I'll start to miss my hair in it's loose state.  I'm hoping that by frequently changing my look, I won't get the urge to remove this style.

This was the first style that I decided to try with my new two strand twist protective style.  It took all of 5 minutes to do.  All I did was gather the hair up on my right side and add a few bobby pins to pin it over to the left.  I thought it created a very cute style that while easy to achieve looked very different from the original style.

Here are some other views of the look:

Let me know what you think!

New Protective Style - Two Strand Twists w/ Extensions

A protective style is a great way to minimize wear and tear on your natural hair.  Your hair is considered to be "protected" when your ends are covered from the environment & there is minimal daily manipulation that your hair has to endure.  This style came at a perfect time.  I had just attempted a roller set and had a huge failure in that style.  When I say huge, I mean HUGE, ENORMOUS, EPIC!  LOL.  I had planned to do a post about it, but I just didn't have the heart.  I couldn't bear the sight of those pictures being on the web....forever.

I resorted back to my wash and go after that style and anxiously awaited my salon visit this past Friday.  My stylist, Taji created this style by adding Sensual Afro Kinky Bulk hair in 14' to my own hair and 2 strand twisting it. This style should last about 8 -10 weeks if properly cared for (which it will be!).  I've had it in 4 days so far and I love how carefree it is and I've received numerous compliments.

This will give me and my hair a much needed break and hopefully help with my goal of retaining length.  Check out other pictures of the style below.
